Chapters’ Corner, April 2026 | Audubon

2026 Joint State Chapter Gathering, April 2-4 
Greater than fifty chapter members representing 9 of our 12 chapters gathered in Phoenix earlier this month for our biannual assembly. The vitality was nice as outdated associates acquired to catch-up and new friendships have been made. We have been particularly glad to host members of our latest campus chapter from Arizona Western Faculty (AWC) in Yuma. Contributors loved shows about Nationwide Audubon’s Flight Plan, the Audubon Conservation Ranching Program, utilizing storytelling to raise conservation motion, and find out how to enhance membership and variety of members. Break-out teams mentioned fundraising, conservation actions, and campus chapter growth. A giant spotlight was the Saturday birding excursions, with the Gilbert Riparian crew tallying 47 species (and one wayward rooster). “Gilbert” was adopted by one of many  Arizona Western Faculty college students and is settling in along with his new flock in Yuma because the golf equipment’ new mascot. 

Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo Surveying Internship 
Sonoran Audubon Society (SAS) is at the moment recruiting current faculty graduates and upper-level faculty college students for the 2026 Western Yellow-Billed Cuckoo Survey Certification Paid Internship Program that runs from mid-June through mid-August 2026 (dates TBD). Interns will accompany Audubon biologists on established survey transects in central Arizona. Dependable transportation is required however carpooling is feasible. Learn more and apply here. 

Continental Divide Path Days in Silver Metropolis 
Bird Alliance of Southwestern New Mexico might be a part of the Continental Divide Path Days Speaker Sequence in Silver Metropolis on April 24. Brian Dolton, birder extraordinaire, might be sharing details about birds that hikers and lovers could encounter alongside the Continental Divide Path in southern New Mexico. See more information here.
