Fall Crane Viewing | Audubon

Despite the fact that Sandhill Cranes stage within the Platte River valley in massive numbers in the course of the spring migration, this isn’t the case within the fall. In the course of the months of September and October, cranes stage in areas of japanese Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North Dakota, South Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. The earliest we sometimes see (or hear) cranes is late September, with the height of the fall migration occurring from late October by way of early November and ending someday in December. Throughout this time the cranes hardly ever keep for an prolonged interval, often simply in a single day in the event that they do cease.

Cranes will be seen and heard at Rowe Sanctuary in the course of the fall, however we wouldn’t have guided subject journeys. Guests are welcome to stroll our strolling trails that lead from the Iain Nicolson Audubon Middle within the early morning and late afternoon when any cranes which have stopped could also be on or close to the river
